The unmistakable wall curtain “Knobbly tree” is the result of a wonderful collaboration between our screen printing studio and the illustrator Adam Higton who lives in England. Through the Instagram platform we got to know each other and learned to love and appreciate each other’s artistic and craft work.
Adam Higton has also already made personal acquaintance with the city of Frankfurt: in 2012/13 he was part of the exhibition “Pssst” at the MMK (Museum of Modern Art). During his visit to the city at the time, he was particularly struck by the omnipresent plane trees and the many rabbits in the parks.
As we too are always fascinated by these very special looking and typical trees of Frankfurt, we all immediately agreed on this motif for a wall hanging. Adam sent us his collaged work and we did the digital preparation and of course the actual process of screen printing. The motif was printed by hand in a limited edition (only 8 pieces in total!) in three colours on high-quality Panama fabric in a fine cube design.
The fabrics were then double-stitched in Frankfurt by Stitch by Stitch. This gives the curtain a nice weight and makes it fit particularly well on the wall. The four loops leave enough space for a suitable hanging.
The delivery is without bamboo cane. We recommend local hardware stores or plant supply shops for the purchase of a bamboo or wooden stick.
Type of fabric: Panama kbA
Fabric certification: IVN Best / GOTS / Fair for Life
Dimensions: approx. 54cm x 76cm
Dimensions including loops: approx. 54cm x 82cm
Our Panama fabric is made of 100% organic cotton. A special weaving technique gives Panama not only the characteristic cube look but also its special properties – it lets the air circulate and is therefore particularly breathable. With 270 g/m2 Panama is a rather medium-weight fabric. The fabric is washable up to 40°, we always recommend hand washing.
All designs are printed by us in elaborate handcraft on natural textiles. During this manual process, small irregularities in the printed image may occur. Minor deviations, for example in colour, are charming and typical characteristics of screen printing. Each printing process produces high-quality originals that have their own unique and unmistakable character.
Our photos show a realistic image of our products. Nevertheless, we cannot guarantee a one hundred percent accurate reproduction of the colourfulness, as colours are displayed differently depending on the settings of the computer or smartphone screen.
